For Wesley Neto, watching Burnley is sacred. Whatever else is happening that day, the 28-year-old makes his plans around the match, and when the opponents are Blackburn Rovers, the anticipation is greater still.
“When there’s a match against Blackburn, I feel a rush of adrenaline,” he says. “It’s a very special game.”
It is a feeling familiar to supporters across east Lancashire. Wesley, however, experiences it from the Brazilian city of Cuiabá, in the state of Mato Grosso, where his devotion to Burnley tends to attract a little more curiosity. Originally from Alto Paraguai, also in Mato Grosso, Wesley has supported the Clarets since 2021.
