It was a new era at Turf Moor as Fabio Celestini took to the Burnley dugout for the first time after being appointed as the club’s new manager this week, but it was another frustrating afternoon as the Clarets edged closer to an unwanted record for their poor home form.
There were obvious signs of improvement from the Nicky Hayen reign, but in truth, the bar was so low after that dismal afternoon in Lincoln that it would have been difficult to get worse. But the players looked like they knew their jobs at least this time, and the defence was solid enough - although, in truth, it was hardly tested against a Portsmouth side who looked underwhelming.
