Amdouni holds Zek-ey to unlocking Burnley's attaking potential - his absence could be huge

Few Clarets fans truly believed Zeki Amdouni would play for the club in the Championship, but after finding his feet, he's proving to be talismanic and almost single-handedly carrying the attacking burden of the team.

If you’d have told Burnley fans in May last year that Zeki Amdouni would be leading the line in the Championship, most would’ve pulled a wry smile and replied with ‘aye, alright pal’ in their thick Lancastrian accent.

Fast forward almost five months and it’s the Swiss international whose inclusion seems to have helped overhaul Burnley’s attack, proving to be a seamless replacement for Zian Flemming after his summer departure.

Although perhaps not the big, bustling centre-forward that Flemming was, Amdouni’s poise and elegance on the ball has proven to be more in keeping with what Nicky Hayen wants from a frontman, and his ability to drop into pockets of space to link play has revolutionised the Clarets’ attack.
